Are You Suffering from A Traumatic Brain Injury?
Are you a resident of Pennsylvania who has gotten into a car crash? Did that crash result in trauma or injury to your head? If so, you may find yourself dealing with a traumatic brain injury (TBI). Today, we will look at some of the symptoms associated with this injury.
The National Institute of Child Health and Human Development looks at symptoms associated with traumatic brain injury. Despite the name, TBIs can actually vary in severity. There are mild TBIs. These have less severe symptoms that may include:
Headaches
Dizziness, nausea, vomiting
Blurred vision
Ringing in ears
Erratic behavioral or mood changes
Trouble sleeping
The symptoms for moderate to severe TBIs are more notable. They tend to last longer and be harder to treat. Symptoms may include slurred speech and seizures. Loss of coordination and loss of sensation in the limbs is also common. This may happen alongside the aforementioned symptoms, which may also be stronger in intensity.
Symptoms can span the scope from mental to physical. Every victim experiences TBIs in a unique way that depends on the severity of their trauma and where they injured their brain. These symptoms may have a quick onset or be slow to come. Some pass quickly, such as nausea. Others, like memory loss or increased agitation, may last much longer.
The prognosis of a TBI depends in part on how quickly the victim gets treatment. For that reason, regardless of whether a TBI is mild or severe, it is recommended you see a doctor. Many suggest seeing one as soon as possible.
